After a pilot blog post last month in which we compiled the major adult industry news from around the world, we decided to establish a series. We will bring you the news and legislation decisions that will impact the adult industry each month. And this month, we have news out of China, an odd decision of censorship from UK, and a Vatican regulation. Let’s take a look!
China – Porn Fans Find New Creative Ways Of Bypassing Censorship
As you might know, the Chinese internet is heavily regulated. Adult content is completely censored and they run AI programs to take down sites with hardcore porn content. But when people want to jerk off to porn, they will find a way.
Recently, Chinese porn fans started using a seemingly obscure and useless app to share and stream porn. Wallpaper Engine is an app that can be found in the Steam library, which is also banned in China and can only be accessed through a VPN. However, the censorship seems unable to reach what’s happening within this obscure app. Because of the efficiency in streaming porn incognito that this app provides, it managed to go up the ranks of the most downloaded and used products in the entire Stream library. It’s up there along Counter-Strike and Dota. That’s quite huge! Most of the porn shared through this wallpaper app is hentai. And we have to admit that we’ve found some pretty good porn there.
The Vatican – The Church Won’t Invest In Porn Anymore
That seems pretty obvious. The church is usually against porn. But the church has a lot of money and they also have a team of holy investors working for them. Traditionally, these investors loved the adult companies, especially in the big cam industry boom. Don’t think that the church opened up cam studios. But they did put money in media investment funds that were used as a forefront for safely investing in porn. These funds worked just like an investment index in which you can invest in multiple companies at once. And some of those companies were dealing with adult content.
However, journalistic investigations in Italy uncovered these practices, and the public outcry was pretty big. The church had to release a new order to align all investments with Catholic doctrine. That also means no more investments in gambling. However, the new order will be effective starting with September, which means that the church can still get some of that porn money for the next month or so.
The UK – A Ban On Schoolgirl Uniforms?
An interesting proposal for a total ban of schoolgirl uniforms in both sex shops and porn comes from UK. It’s not law yet, but just a petition organized by a feminist group lead by a teacher. This group is lead by a teacher and the whole project was carried on by her students.
However, the proposed ban does not constrain consenting adults on what they can and cannot wear in the bedroom. The proposition just wants to eliminate the term schoolgirl from adult shop terminology. So far, this is just a petition, which in the current political scene of UK doesn’t hold too much priority.
