Social media has taken access to entertainment, data, news events and life connections to a whole new level compared to 10 years ago.

YouTube and YouTube Premium
Throughout the last decade and a half, the video-sharing platform of YouTube has grown and flourished from its early 2005 format.
Google bought them out one year after they were established.
YouTube lets users upload, share, watch, comment and subscribe to other accounts.
It has a wide breadth of offerings that are both from individuals, groups and corporations.
The content is full of video and TV clips, music videos, documentaries, trailers, live streaming, video blogs, instructional talks and so much more.
The majority of the content is offered by everyday people along with some that are offered by big corporations such as CBS and Hulu.
You can use YouTube either as a registered or unregistered user.
If you register you can upload and comment on videos but only watch if unregistered.
Most content is free to watch with the exception of subscription services that include, premium channels, rentals, YouTube Music and Premium.
Most of these don’t cost a lot and have the added bonus of ad-free use.
YouTube has so much content, there are more than 500 hours of content uploaded every minute and 1 billion hours watched every 24 hours.
YouTube ranks second in online popularity, only finding itself behind Google its owner.
Difference Between YouTube and YouTube Premium
YouTube goes beyond registration as a user.
While registered users don’t have to pay and get lots of content if you upgrade to Premium for a monthly fee you can go forward without advertisements and expand what you have access to.
You are allowed to download content, so you have access to them for offline viewing.
It offers you content that gives you audio music and also gives you access to content that is exclusive to YouTube and YouTube Music.
If you want YouTube Music as well then you pay an additional monthly fee, but many users feel this is well worth it.
YouTube Premium gives you other content beyond regular YouTube and YouTube Music.
It offers scripted things along with reality, documentaries and animated programming.
It also gives access to some high-end YouTube personalities.
It has TV and film content that along with all the other features that will work across all the YouTube groups of platforms such as YouTube Kids, Music, TV and videos.
Both YouTube and Premium can be used through the web or an app.
Apps allow for a little more flexibility as you get playback and background play.
Make note that whether you have regular YouTube or Premium, you still have to pay for movies and TV shows that are rentals.
This also applies to paid subscriptions for certain channels and any bonus content that doesn’t get covered under the Premium headline.
These extras may still have ads as they aren’t covered under Premium.
What is Next?
While there is so much content on YouTube that you could never experience it all.
Old and new, there is a lot to peruse.
If you love the older content of YouTube and the original programs and really don’t want all the new stuff, you will have that option available to you soon.
Google is planning to make YouTube Originals that are free to tune into.
You can pay for ad-free but that may change as well as allowing broader access.
Along with Originals, Google Play Music may be coming on board as well.
Premium includes Music Premium but also Google Play Music.
As the two music platforms are both available under Premium, it sounds like Google Play Music will soon be fully taken over fully by YouTube Music and all content will be centralized into one place making it easier for listeners to find things and not have to jump between two apps.
YouTube Premium is exactly that, an upgrade over an already quality basic YouTube.
If you are someone who uses YouTube to watch things only sporadically you might want to take a closer look at the content of the app.
You will find that there is much more beyond simply funny uploads and how-to-do-it-yourself videos.
If you want to watch some original content, peruse some music videos and have extensive uninterrupted access to everything you can think of then YouTube Premium is the way to go.
If you don’t want to pay and can stand the various advertising interruptions, then YouTube itself is good too.
You can find almost anything you may want to watch.
Whether you want to figure out how to make things work, repair something or watch some music videos YouTube has it all and more.
